Movement Therapy is a method of physical rehabilitation that is focused on addressing your pain and/or limitations associated with the neuromusculoskeletal system as it relates to movement. Movement Therapy is powered by the latest biological science and the universal principles of human movement. It can serve as an alternative or in conjunction with physical therapy or it is a great option to use when transitioning out of physical therapy to get your body to a state of resilience to reduce the chance of the injury repeating itself.

This treatment method follows the principles of movement based on an understanding of how the human body is designed to function. Each session involves therapeutic bodywork (see Additional Modalities for techniques incorporated HERE), stretching and mobilizations strategies, and corrective movements designed to meet your specific needs. Because reconditioning the body to function with more efficiency takes consistent work and attention, a customized daily movement practice for you to engage with at home will accompany the treatment sessions. Additionally, as a Holistic Body Coach™, I will bring attention to the mental, emotional, relational, environmental, and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your condition or interfering with your progress.

Who is Movement Therapy for?

Movement Therapy focuses on restoring your Movement Health™. If you are physically active, an athlete, or simply someone who cherishes the ability to move in your body without restriction, but you are experiencing a challenging musculoskeletal injury, chronic joint pain or limitation, or any other issue that prevents you from performing your daily activities or the physical activities you enjoy, schedule a Movement Therapy Assessment now to begin the journey back to movement freedom.

If you are tired of the short term fix that other approaches have provided you, Movement Therapy is focused on identifying the root cause of your condition and creating a daily movement practice to address it. Most importantly, you will be empowered by body and movement education so you learn to inhabit your body in a way that keeps the condition from returning.

  • If you identify as someone who is not injured and has no significant pain or a limiting physical condition, you may be better suited for MoveFit™ Personal Training or MoveFit™ Mobility Training. You can learn more about each by clicking on the following links:

Movement Therapy Process

Step 1: Schedule A Movement Therapy Consultation

If you’re unsure if Movement Therapy is right for you, let’s start with a consultation to make sure my movement philosophy and approach is aligned with your needs and the outcomes you’re looking for.  The consultation is a complimentary 30 minute session performed in person or virtually. This is an opportunity for each of us to ask questions and get to know the other so we can determine if we’re a good fit to work together.

  • Click HERE to set up a consultation. If the consultation is unnecessary and you are ready to move forward, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Perform A Movement Therapy Movement Assessment

The Movement Therapy Assessment allows us to capture your current movement strengths and limitations and establish your movement baseline.  All of this information is critical to designing individualized programming to guide you successfully toward reaching your goals.

  • To learn more about the assessment, click HERE

  • If you’re ready to schedule your assessment now, click HERE.

Step 3: Discuss the Assessment Results & Set Your First Movement Therapy Session

Following the assessment, we discuss the findings and schedule your first personal training session.

Note -  Movement Therapy serves to address the MOVE TOWARD OPTIMAL aspect of A Movement Lifestyle™. Those who combine Movement Therapy with the A Movement Lifestyle™ program have the best results. To learn more about A Movement Lifestyle™, click HERE.
