Movement Therapy Assessment - MoveFIT™ Personal training assessment - MoveFIT™ Mobility Training assessment - movement health assessment

Movement Assessments

The purpose of a movement assessment is to capture the capacity and quality of your movement. Having the sufficient capacity and quality of movement is at the heart of injury and pain free participation in exercise, sport, and lifestyle forms of physical activity. Without this critical information, there is no foundation or baseline information with which to accurately design a rehabilitation, training, or lifestyle program. Please click on the links above this paragraph or scroll down the page to read more on each assessment process.

Movement Therapy Assessment Process

The Movement Therapy Assessment is for those who are engaging in the Movement Therapy program. Movement Therapy is a method of physical rehabilitation that is focused on resolving your pain and/or limitations associated with your body’s movement system.

To learn more about Movement Therapy, please click HERE.

Note: The first step of the Movement Therapy program is to establish a baseline of your Movement Health™. This is done by performing a movement assessment. The assessment consists of 3 parts.

Part 1 - Collect and Review your Health/Injury History

You will start by completing a thorough intake of your health history. This will include your injury history as well as any intervention you have received such as physical therapy, chiropractic care, injections, and surgery. This allows us to learn more about your body and how you are inhabiting it as well as if there may be any vulnerabilities in your movement health™ that we should inspect specifically during the movement assessment itself. I will also inquire about any nonphysical forms of stress as these may contribute to your current health status. We will then review this information to capture any clues about your condition and how you are inhabiting your body as well as what was effective in the previous rehabilitation intervention you engaged in.

Part 2 - Perform the Movement Assessment/Educate about the Body and How it Moves

Once the health/injury history review is complete, we will move on to the movement assessment portion of the process. Here we will perform a thorough evaluation of your body as it relates to the condition you’re presenting with. We will explore your current movement health™ with activities such as walking, squatting, lunging as well as your capacity to move in ways that are specific to each joint. We will identify the compensatory movement patterns and joint and soft tissue restrictions that are at the root of your current condition - injury, discomfort, lack of efficiency.

Part 3 - Discuss Assessment Findings & the Solutions to Improve your Movement Health™

Finally, we will discuss the assessment findings, outline the treatment plan to resolve your condition and schedule your first Movement Therapy session.

MoveFit™ - Personal Training Assessment Process

The MoveFit™ Personal Training Assessment is for those who are engaging in the MoveFit™ Personal Training Program. MoveFit™ Personal Training is designed to enhance your fitness and performance while operating from a movement mindset™. It is for individuals who are free from major orthopedic or neuromusculoskeletal injury, chronic pain or limitation, or any other issue that prevents them from moving with a high degree of freedom.

The MoveFit™ - Personal Training Assessment Process consists of 3 parts.

Part 1 - Review the MoveFit Personal Training Intake and 5 Whys Forms

We begin the assessment process by reviewing the MoveFit™ - Personal Training Intake and 5 Whys Forms. These forms will be sent to you upon scheduling your assessment. We ask that you complete the forms ahead of the discovery and assessment session to allow for the best use of the time allotted.

The intake form captures your health history, injury history, current orthopedic conditions, lifestyle variables - physical activity, nutrition, sleep, etc., as well as the objective training goals you intend to achieve.  It will also ask of any intervention you have received - physical therapy, chiropractic care, injections, surgery, etc. This allows us to learn more about your body and how you are inhabiting it as well as if there may be any vulnerabilities in your movement health™ that we should inspect specifically during the movement assessment itself.

The 5 Whys form helps to identify the deep motivation behind your engagement in training - the desired experiences that will come as a result of achieving the objective training goals. You are driven in two ways: by the experiences you want to create - your vision and by the experiences you want to avoid and belief will happen if you don’t take action. We will capture both to help keep you engaged and accountable throughout the training journey.

Part 2 - Perform the Movement Assessment/Educate about the Body and How it Moves

Next, we will explore your current movement health™ with activities such as walking, squatting, lunging as well as your capacity to move in ways that are specific to each joint. We will identify your movement strengths and limitations. We will determine if there are any compensatory movement patterns and joint and soft tissue restrictions to address at the beginning of our training program. Addressing any vulnerabilities big or small in the beginning of the program will reduce the potential of them developing into a significant condition in the future.

Part 3 - Discuss Assessment Findings & the Game Plan to Achieve Your Goals

Finally, we will discuss the assessment findings, map out the training plan and schedule your first Movefit™ - Personal Training session.

Movement Health Assessment Process

The intention of this offering is to serve as a method of proactively caring for and addressing your Movement Health™ - the health of your body’s movement system. This service is for individuals who place great value on their Movement Health™ and, like a yearly check up with your primary care physician, want to get a thorough check up of your Movement Health™ to:

1. Identify any movement system limitations before they become serious and debilitating,

2. Determine that you have the movement prerequisites to participate in a new activity (i.e. CrossFit, boot camp classes) without contributing unknowingly to a movement compensation pattern or the beginnings of premature/unnecessary degeneration in your movement system.

The Movement Health™ Assessment Process consists of 3 parts.

Part 1 - Collect and Review your Health/Injury History

You will start by completing a thorough intake of your health history. This will include your injury history as well as any intervention you have received - physical therapy, chiropractic care, injections, surgery, etc. This allows me to learn more about your body and how you are inhabiting it as well as if there may be any vulnerabilities in your movement health that we should inspect specifically during the movement assessment. I will also inquire about any physical, chemical, and psychological forms of stress to make sure your cumulative stress isn’t a concern to the development of a future condition.

Part 2 - Perform the Movement Assessment, Educate about the Body and How it Moves

Next, we will explore your current Movement Health™ with activities such as walking, squatting, lunging as well as your capacity to move in ways that are specific to each joint. We will identify your movement strengths and limitations. We will determine the compensatory movement patterns and joint and soft tissue restrictions that may be influencing your current injury, discomfort or lack of efficiency or that may contribute to a future condition.

Part 3 - Discuss Assessment Findings & Solution Options

Finally, we will discuss the assessment findings to determine what intervention is recommended if any. If physical rehabilitation is recommended, we will discuss Movement Therapy and what that process entails. To learn more about Movement Therapy, click HERE. If personal training or mobility training is recommended, we will discuss MoveFit™ Personal Training or MoveFit™ Mobility Training and what those programs entail. If you are engaging in the A Movement Lifestyle™ coaching program, we will discuss how to integrate rehabilitation into the process. For more on A Movement Lifestyle™, click HERE.
